Ghent Resident Olga Jones Honored With Dental Hygiene Award at Hudson Valley Community College

Olga Jones of Ghent, a 2004 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program, recently was honored by the college.
Jones was awarded the Third District Dental Society Dental Hygiene Scholarship, which is given to full-time students who meet satisfactory academic requirements and have a sincere interest in dentistry. The scholarship is awarded each of the four semesters the student is enrolled in Dental Hygiene program.
The scholarship is sponsored by the Third District Dental Society, which comprises dental practices in Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia, Greene, Ulster and Sullivan counties.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
