FOR RELEASE: Immediate, Tuesday, June 15, 2004

Chartwells College and University Dining Services became the new food service provider at Hudson Valley Community College on June 1, 2004.

Hudson Valley's Faculty Student Association recently negotiated a five-year agreement with Chartwells for food and catering services at the college. Chartwells also will participate in the redesign of the food service areas on campus, which is in conjunction with the renovation of the Siek Campus Center.

Chartwells is implementing several changes to the college dining program, including a debit card plan that will allow students, faculty and staff the opportunity to save money on all of their food purchases. Through exclusive partnerships with leading companies, Chartwells also will offer several retail brands on campus, including Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Au Bon Pain soups.

"After an extensive search, we feel that Chartwells will provide students with the best combination of customer service and quality food," said Ann Carrozza, executive director of the Faculty Student Association. "Chartwells has a great reputation for being committed to the students and institutions it serves."

A division of Compass Group North America, Chartwells is a contract foodservice company that provides dining services to more than 200 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada, including the University at Albany.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
