Janine Kava Named Director of Communications and Marketing at Hudson Valley

Janine Kava of Niskayuna has been named director of communications and marketing at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
Kava will oversee the media relations, advertising and marketing efforts at the college. She came to the college from Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, where she was director of marketing and public relations. She previously served as an account executive and media specialist at Ellis Hospital. Kava also spent 15 years as a journalist at several newspapers, including the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle and the Daily Gazette in Schenectady.
She is a graduate of Boston University, where she received her bachelor's degree in journalism.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has graduated more than 55,000 students.
