Tortorici Appointed Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Health Sciences at Hudson Valley Community College

Vivian Tortorici of Ballston Spa, New York, an educator with 20 years of service at Hudson Valley Community College, is the new dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Health Sciences at the college. As dean of the college, Tortorici will oversee 14 departments, which include 28 academic programs and seven service areas.
Prior to becoming a department chairperson in 1987, Tortorici previously served as a professor in the English department. As a department chairperson, she was instrumental in establishing an associate's degree program in Broadcast Communications that is jointly offered with The New School of Radio and Television. In 1994, she was the recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching from the State University of New York.
Tortorici has a bachelor's degree in English from Trinity College of Vermont and a master's degree in English Education from the University at Albany. A veteran instructor with over 30 years experience, Tortorici looks forward to collaborating with faculty and department chairpersons on numerous academic initiatives.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
