Johanna Mather Receives President's Award For Excellence In Teaching

Hudson Valley Community College recently recognized Johanna M. Mather of Malta, a full-time faculty member in the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (CDEOC), with the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Mather has been employed at the CDEOC since 1994. She developed and has taught the highly successfully medical office clerical assistant and medical information processing specialist programs, as well as a wide range of other courses in the business department. She also has presented at the New York Association of Continuing/ Community Educators (NYACCE) Conference.
Mather holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and management from Siena College and a master's degree in business administration from the University at Albany.
One student describes Mather as "refreshing, enlightening, attentive, and inspirational."
Hudson Valley Community College, located at 80 Vandenburgh Avenue in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
