Hudson Valley's Workforce Development Institute Offers Peace Officer Training Program

The Workforce Development Institute at Hudson Valley Community College will offer a 35-hour Basic Peace Officer Training Without Firearms program, beginning Thursday, November 21.

The program will be offered 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday evenings through January 2, 2003.

The training will include discussions on ethics and the law enforcement profession; basic law; NYS penal law and criminal procedure law; investigations by peace officers; observation and perception; techniques and mechanics of arrest; field note taking; report writing; interagency cooperation; and conflict resolution.

Certificates of completion will be issued to persons employed as peace officers at the time of training who satisfactorily complete all aspects of the training, including an exam from the Office of Public Safety of the Division of Criminal Justice Services for the State of New York.

Cost for the training is $250.
