Hudson Valley Community College's logo appeared on the rear deck lid of the No. 23 Hills Brothers Coffee Dodge during the "Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen" at Watkins Glen on Sunday, August 11. A NASCAR Winston Cup Series event, the race was aired nationally on NBC, and Tom Hubert drove the No. 23 car.
Hudson Valley's logo appeared on the car because of the college's relationship with Siemens USA, which, along with Hills Brothers Coffee and Caterpillar, is one of three programs under the umbrella of the Bill Davis Racing Team. Siemens has been contracted to build a methane cogeneration plant that will serve as a power source for Hudson Valley.
Hubert, who started the Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen in 40th place, finished in 24th.
Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
