Marcia Romanski of Watervliet, a 2002 graduate from Hudson Valley Community College's Human Services program, recently was honored by the college.
Romanski received the Human Services Award. Faculty members in the Human Services department nominate students for the Human Services Award, and then jointly select one outstanding student. Selection criteria considered for the award include academics, values, exemplary fieldwork and service to other students and the college community.
A President's List student, Romanski is transferring to UAlbany, where she will enroll in the School of Social Welfare. While at Hudson Valley, she was a two-year member of the Human Services Club and she served as a volunteer at the Samaritan Suicide Prevention Center. She also is a mother to two children: Justin, 8; and Samantha, 6.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
