Schenectady Resident April Whitbeck Honored At Hudson Valley Community College

April Whitbeck of Schenectady, a 2002 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College's Early Childhood program, recently was honored by the college's Early Childhood Club.
Whitbeck received the Early Childhood Club's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Whitbeck, who served as president of the Early Childhood Club, is transferring to The College of Saint Rose to pursue an Elementary Education degree. In addition to volunteering her time as a religion teacher, Whitbeck was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Hudson Valley.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
