Watervliet Resident Sharon Fitch Honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Sharon Fitch of Watervliet, a 2002 graduate from Hudson Valley Community College's Dental Hygiene program, was recently honored by the college.
Fitch was the recipient of the Verna Thornhill Meeker Scholarship Award, which is given by the Capital District Dental Hygienists Association, and the Proctor and Gamble Award for Excellence in Preventive Dentistry.
Fitch, who was a dental assistant for 10 years, plans to begin her career in dental hygiene. The dean's list and president's list student also hopes to continue her education and perhaps return to teach at Hudson Valley's Dental Hygiene program. She was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
