Hudson Valley Community College has scheduled a series of Wednesday orientation/information sessions for its extension site, located at 175 Central Avenue in Albany. The sessions will run from noon to 4 p.m. on June 5, July 24 and August 14.

The sessions are being conducted for Albany residents who have applied to Hudson Valley's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), which provides educational and financial assistance to students who are from low-income households and are considered to be at risk of not reaching their full academic potential due to poor educational preparation. As part of Hudson Valley's Parents-As-Partners program, parents of the EOP applicants also will be invited.

The sessions will offer information on financial aid and an overview of Hudson Valley's registration process. Additionally, the sessions will introduce the college's many academic and student support services, and there will a study skills workshop.

"This is an excellent opportunity for us to introduce new students and their parents to Hudson Valley Community College's downtown Albany facility," said Louis Coplin, the college's director of student life. "And by reviewing Hudson Valley's procedures and support services, we're doing our best to ensure a smooth transition to college life."
