Hudson Valley Community College's Office of Community and Professional Education will offer week-long full-day and half-day athletic camps for youth this summer.

Tennis and advanced tennis half-day camps will be offered in July for children ages 8 to 15. Instruction will emphasize the development of groundstrokes, net play and strategy. Individualized instruction will be available for all skill levels.

Half-day golf camps will run in July and will include trips to a local driving range. Instruction for children 10 to 18 will be based on the fundamentals of grip, stance and swing. A bag and set of clubs are required.

Full-day camps are offered in basketball (ages 8-18) and soccer (ages 6-18) during July and August. Fundamentals are stressed and drills will help develop individual skills. All camps are under the direction of a head coach, with a sufficient number of assistant coaches for a low coach-to-camper ratio. Camp coaches include members of the Hudson Valley Community College athletic and coaching staff as well as guest lecturers.

The cost for half-day programs is $70 for tennis and $85 for golf; and $140 for the full-day basketball and soccer programs. Fees include camp tuition, T-shirt and excess accident insurance. To register or for more information, call 629-7339.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training.
