President Andrew Matonak Leads Staff in Viking Cup Softball Challenge Against Students This Thursday

WHO/WHAT: Hudson Valley Community College President Andrew Matonak — known to students and staff as “Drew” — will pitch the third annual softball game between Hudson Valley students and staff as the highlight of the annual celebration of Fall Fest at the college.
WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 3
Softball game begins at noon
Other festivities take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DETAILS: Fall Fest has been an annual tradition at the college since the 1970s, with the goal of officially welcoming back new and returning students, as well as providing a social outlet, during the first weeks of the new school year.
A standout pitcher during his college years, President Matonak, tells all, “the staff will, of course, be victorious” in this game.
The college’s dining service will provide lunch to students in attendance. There will be other games with prizes, all at no charge to students.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 13,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
