Details: The EOC will celebrate student achievements during the 47th annual Graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 27. More than 275 students in eight programs are eligible to participate. The EOC has served over 47,000 individuals in its 47 year history.
“The EOC provides support, education and training to those most in need, and it’s extremely gratifying to see our students reach this moment of celebration,” said Dr. Lucille Marion, Vice President at Hudson Valley Community College and Executive Director of the EOC.
Each year, the EOC in conjunction with the State University of New York University Center for Academic and Workforce Development, honor a former EOC graduate with the Distinguished Alumni Award. The recipient for 2013 is Julia Basile, a 1998 graduate of the EOC’s Welding program who returned for recertification in 2003. She continues to work as a welder in the greater New York City area.
The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center, a division of Hudson Valley Community College, provides vocational training, academic preparation programs and job placement services to eligible New York residents who are 16 years old, to help them succeed on the job, and to encourage ongoing personal and professional development.
The EOC is scheduled to relocate to its new facility at 431 River Street, Troy, inside the Hedley Building winter 2013-2014.
