Congressman Chris Gibson Hosts Clean Energy and High Technology Career Forum at TEC-SMART

What: Congressman Chris Gibson leads a presentation for students, teachers and the general public on preparing and applying for high-tech and clean energy jobs in the Capital Region. In addition, nearly ten Capital Region companies, including GLOBALFOUNDRIES and numerous wind, solar, geothermal and other high-tech businesses, will be on hand to discuss career opportunities. The event is sponsored by Hudson Valley Community College, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Ballston Spa Central School District and the Northeast Advanced Technological Education Center.
Why: Clean energy and high technology are rapidly growing career fields. This program will provide information on jobs available, salaries, career prospects and the skills and education required.
Who: Presentations will be given by Pradeep Haldar, CNSE vice president for Clean Energy Programs; Jeff Irish, president of Hudson Valley Clean Energy Inc. and Adirondack Solar; and Richard.T.Krolczyk, operations leader, GE Energy Storage.

Remarks will also be made by Congressman Chris Gibson, 20th Congressional District; Francis J. Murray Jr., president and CEO, NYSERDA; and Joseph P. Dragone, Ph.D., Superintendent of the Ballston Spa Central School District. Andrew Matonak, president of Hudson Valley Community College, will provide opening comments.
Where: TEC-SMART facility, located at NYSERDA's Saratoga Technology and Energy Park (STEP), 345 Hermes Road, Malta.
When: 10 a.m. to Noon, Friday, March 16
Details: TEC-SMART was completed in January 2010 as a joint initiative of Hudson Valley and NYSERDA. It features classrooms and laboratories where students are trained in semiconductor manufacturing and green technologies, including photovoltaics, wind energy, geothermal, alternative fuels and home energy efficiency.
