African Masquerades are intricate and exquisite costumes traditionally worn by African priests and priestesses, carnival masquerades, dancers and Haitian vodou practitioners. Phyllis Galembo, photographer and Professor of Art at the University at Albany, will speak about photographing African Masquerades, the reasoning behind them and give a visual tour of her colorfully vibrant portraits. This event is free and open to the public.
