Professor Tackles Helping Kids Deal With Stress of Traumatic or Violent Events

WHO: Hudson Valley Community College Teacher Preparation Department Chairperson Nancy T. Cupolo.
WHAT: Cupolo will talk about how children handle the stress of traumatic situations, such as war, terrorist attacks and acts of extreme violence such as the Virginia Tech shooting. The topic is one of Professor Cupolo’s areas of expertise. Her lecture on the subject is part of the college’s celebration of The Week of the Young Child.

The lecture will be 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, April 24. Professor Cupolo is available to speak to the media about this topic before or after this lecture.

The Week of the Young Child is a sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a national organization which focuses on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. Hudson Valley’s Teacher Preparation Department offers an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a certificate for those seeking employment as teaching assistants.
