Hudson Valley President Dr. Andrew J. Matonak to Meet College's Youngest Students at Viking Child Care Center

Presidential visit part of "Month of the Young Child" celebration

WHO: Hudson Valley Community College President Andrew J. “Drew” Matonak and children who attend the Viking Child Care Center, the college’s on-campus day care center.
WHAT: President Matonak will visit with children and together, they will decorate strips of fabric, which will be used to create a takeoff of “The Gates,” the saffron-colored fabric art installation by Christo and Jeanne-Claude that was temporarily constructed in Manhattan’s Central Park earlier this year.

The fabric strips will be tied to fences at the center, creating “Fences,” a colorful, fluid display to help the children celebrate April as the Month of the Young Child.

DETAILS:

Operated by the Hudson Valley Faculty Student Association, the Viking Child Care Center is designed to serve children between the ages of six weeks and five years old whose parents attend Hudson Valley; the center serves more than 100 children. President Matonak, in his second week on the job, also will tour the facility.

DIRECTIONS: The Viking Child Care Center is located just off of Williams Road, which is accessible from Route 4.
