Marvin Library now lends iPads to current students and employees for three-hour use within the library building. This new service contributes to the college’s innovative learning environment. The iPads are pre-loaded with standard apps as well as additional apps that have been selected by the Library, Learning Assistance Center, Instructional Media Center and academic departments.
Students, faculty and staff may recommend apps for the iPads using the online form. Preference will be given to free apps that facilitate access to licensed content provided by the library and its building partners and which are directly related to academic programs.
Overnight loans and use outside the library are not permitted. A $3 library fine is charged per hour or part of an hour for late returns. The maximum overdue charge is $150. Failure to return an iPad prior to the library building closing will result in the library declaring the item stolen, notifying the Office of Public Safety for prosecution, and posting the full replacement cost in addition to the maximum overdue fine to BANNER.
An iPad lending agreement must be completed at the first floor service desk for each loan indicating agreement with current policies and restrictions. Loans will not be completed without signing the agreement. iPads are loaned from the first floor service desk and must be returned there directly to a staff member. Violation of the terms of the lending agreement may result in loss of lending privileges. Eligibility to borrow iPads is limited to current students and employees; community borrowers and others who may be eligible to borrow books are excluded from iPad lending.
