Wireless Configuration for Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise SP1


If you are a current Hudson Valley Community College student or employee you may connect your Windows 7 computer to our wireless network by following the instructions below.


Step 1

Select the Network icon in the system tray represented by the 4 bars with the yellow splotch. (Or, Open the Start Menu and select Control Panel, then Network and Internet.)

Select Open Network and Sharing Center.

Select Manage Wireless Networks in the upper left area.

Select the Add button.

Select Manually create a network profile.

Step 4


Step 5

Enter the following values:

Network Name: HVCC-COMM
Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption Type: AES

Select the Next button.

Select Change connection settings.

Select the Security tab. Change Security Type to AES.

Uncheck Remember my credentials for this connection each time I’m logged on.

Select the Settings button.

Uncheck Validate server certificate.

Make sure Authentication Method is set to Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).

Uncheck Enable Fast Reconnect.

Select the Configure button.

Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password.

Select the OK button twice.

Select Advanced settings.

Please Note: Depending on the Windows 7 version, you may not have this option.

Select the 802.1X settings tab.

Select User authentication from the drop down menu.

Select OK for the remaining two panels.

Select the Close button for the manual wireless network window.

Finally, close the Manage Wireless Networks window.

You should receive a notification near the system tray that additional information is required to connect to the network. Select this notification.

Enter your HVCC username and password in the required fields.

Select the OK button to complete the authentication process.

You would be connected to the wireless network within 15-20 seconds.
