Wireless Configuration for Microsoft Windows Vista
If you are a current Hudson Valley Community College student or employee you may connect your Windows Vista computer to our wireless network by following the instructions below.
Open the Start Menu and select Network.
Select Network and Sharing Center.
Select Manage wireless networks.
Select Manually create network profile.
Enter HVCC-COMM (case sensitive) for Network Name, WPA2-Enterprise for Security type, and AES for Encryption type; then select Next.
Note: If AES is not vailable in the Encryption type field, your wireless card is not supported or your card might require a firmware/driver update. Check with your card/PC manufacturer.
Select the Change connection settings option.
Select the Security tab.
Deselect the Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network option.
Deselect Validate server certificate.
Deselect Enable Fast Reconnect.
Deselect Automatically use my Windows Logon name and password (and domain if any) and select Ok.
Select Ok on the Protected EAP Properties dialogue box and then the HVCC-COMM Wireless Network Properties dialogue box.
Select Connect to…
Select HVCC-COMM, and then select Connect.
If you do not see this dialog stating Windows cannot connect to HVCC-COMM, continue to step 15.
If you do see see this dialog, please select close on all dialogues; reboot the computer. Then go to Step 19.
Select Enter/select additional log on information.
Enter your HVCC username and password and then select OK. Leave the Logon domain field blank.
You should see the following screen connecting you to HVCC-COMM.
Once connected, select Close on the Connect to network dialogue.
Connecting to HVCC-COMM after a reboot of your computer or disabling then enabling of the network adapter is done by selecting anywhere in the Additional information is required to connect to HVCC-COMM bubble. You will then be sent to step 16.
DO NOT select the ‘X’ to close the Additional information is required to connect to HVCC-COMM bubble.
