Nursing (A.A.S.)

Career Opportunities and Counseling

Nursing is a "portable profession" with opportunities throughout the United States. Hudson Valley Community College has an enviable placement record that speaks of the respect the Nursing program has earned.

Did you know that by the year 2020, there will be an estimated shortage of 800,000 nurses? With the world population living longer and needing more care, the healthcare field is one of the best places to get a job, and will likely stay that way for many years to come.

Employment of registered nurses is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. Growth will be driven by technological advances in patient care, which permit a greater number of health problems to be treated, and by an increasing emphasis on preventive care. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12/09)
