Rich Text Format (RTF) is a standardized way to encode various text formatting properties, such as bold characters and typefaces, as well as document formatting and structures. By saving a document in RTF, you can open the file in many word processors and other RTF-aware software packages with much of its formatting left intact. Many word processing programs will allow you to save a document in RTF when you select Save As… .
Create a new document or open an existing document from your word processing program
Select File from the toolbar and then choose Save As
The Save As dialogue box appears, select a location or folder to save your file to (i.e. My Documents, Documents)
Enter a Name for your file in the text box next to “File name:“
For the “Save as type:” find and select Rich Text Format (*.rtf) from the menu
Select the Save button and your file will be in Rich Text Format in the location you specified
Now you can upload your file(s) to Blackboard in Rich Text Format, send as an email attachment, etc.
