Individual Studies

The largest academic department on campus, the Individual Studies Department offers programs that provide pathways for students who may have specific transfer or career goals.

Programs

The department offers the following degree and certificate programs:

Health Sciences Certificate
This program provides coursework in the basic sciences along with a concentration in health science areas. With proper course selection, students who successfully complete the certificate can continue into one of the School of Health Sciences programs, transfer to a four-year institution or enter the workforce in many entry-level areas within the health science field, such as home health care aide, health care administrative assistant, emergency medical technician, phlebotomist or EKG technician.

Individual Studies A.A.
This associate in arts (A.A.) degree allows you to choose coursework from a broad range of liberal arts and elective courses to meet your personal degree and transfer goals. The degree is flexible enough for you to tailor your courses based your areas of interest. Those completing the A.A. degree will have completed at least 45 credit hours of Liberal Arts coursework prior to graduation.

Individual Studies A.S.
This associate in science (A.S.) degree allows you to choose coursework from a broad range of liberal arts and elective courses to meet your personal degree and transfer goals. The degree is flexible enough for you to tailor your courses based your areas of interest. Those completing the A.S. degree will have completed at least 30 credit hours of Liberal Arts coursework prior to graduation.
