Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling

The Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling Department oversees programs for those interested in careers in the fields of social services and chemical dependency counseling.

Programs

The department offers the following degree programs:

Addictions Counseling A.A.S.
For those who hope to enter the field of substance abuse counseling without any prior experience, this program is designed to help educate you to meet application requirements for the Credential in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC).

Human Services A.A.S.
Designed for those who wish to enter the human services field (social, behavioral or mental health problems) directly after completing their degree or for those who may already possess a college degree and wish to begin a career in the field. Many graduates have become counselors, advocates, program supervisors and agency executives.

Human Services A.S.
This is generally a transfer-oriented program for those who wish to continue their education on at the bachelor's degree level and beyond. You will be prepared to transfer to four-year colleges to major in social work, psychology, sociology, public policy or creative arts therapy. The college has several transfer agreements in place for program graduates.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling department is to provide students with theory and practical skills in two areas: general Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling. Students are prepared for transfer to baccalaureate programs and/or for employment in the field.
