Open House Set
for Nov. 10

Register for the college's Fall Open House, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.

This event gives prospective students the chance to learn about individual academic programs as well as the college's many academic and student support services.

Laurie Anderson Headlines Fall Cultural Affairs Schedule

Laurie Anderson is one of the most important artists of our time. In a new lecture series, Anderson will read from some of her most well-known stories and talk about where they came from and how they were used in her multimedia work.

Vikings Gridiron Grad Making Waves in Big 10

Former Hudson Valley Viking Jonal Saint-Dic '05 is making an impact in his senior season for the Michigan State Spartans. Following the team's Oct. 20 loss to No. 1 Ohio State, Saint-Dic ranked third in his conference in sacks and was named a mid-season All American by Sports Illustrated. He also has set the single season Big Ten record for forced fumbles.

Credit Course Schedules Now Available

Registration for the Spring 2008 semester and Intersession 2007-2008 begins today, Oct. 29. Course schedules and information are available online.

Intersession courses begin Wednesday, Dec. 26, and the Spring semester begins Monday, Jan. 14. The college offers more than 2,000 courses, on campus, off-campus and online.

Public Ice Skating at the Conway Rink

Public skating has begun, with hours from 4 to 6:15 p.m. on weekends, and noon to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for anyone age 17 and under, $2 for senior citizens, and free for current Hudson Valley students. Discounted group rates for 10 or more people also are available. Skate rentals are $3. Helmet rentals are $1. Skate sharpening is $4 per pair.

Public skating will continue through Sunday, March 9, 2008. For more information, contact the college's skates shop at (518) 629-4850.

New Administration Building, Teaching Gallery and Clock Tower Unveiled

Ribbon CuttingAlumni, faculty and community members gathered last month, as the college officially dedicated its new Administration Building, Teaching Gallery and Dr. Frank J. Morgan Clock Tower.

"The new Administration Building, Teaching Gallery and Dr. Frank J. Morgan Clock Tower, in addition to other recent renovations, have truly transformed the heart of our campus," said Hudson Valley President Andrew J. Matonak, Ed.D. "This project would not be possible without the support of our sponsor, Rensselaer County. It's great to know that we have such strong partners in county government, partners who understand the important role that this college plays in the lives of their constituents and to the vitality of the region's economy." Five Honored with College's 2007 Distinguished Service Award

Three college alumni and two others who have provided years of service to the college will be honored Thursday, Nov. 15, at the college's Distinguished Service Luncheon at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom.

Honored will be: Bob Allen '63, Corey L. Ellis '94, Peter D. Semenza '84, current Board of Trustees chairman Dr. Robert H. Hill II and Tony Levens, regional manager for Raytheon.
