Summer Camp registration begins March 28

From athletics to fashion design to writing a great college application essay, there's something for every child and teen this summer at Hudson Valley.

Registration for all summer camps offered through the Office of Community and Professional Education begins Wednesday, March 28.

And there's a lot happening for parents, too: check out the complete list of the college's credit-free offerings.

Athletic Hall of Fame's Class of 2007 Announced

Hudson Valley Community College will induct four men and three women into its Athletic Hall of Fame at a banquet in April.

Five former student-athletes - football notables Tim Brown '92 and Kelly Raber '81, tennis star Maria Gutierrez '99, three-sport standout Kris (Bowles) Roach '94 and softball and soccer player Amy (Barnhart) Rodwell '90 - and two long-time advocates for Hudson Valley athletics - Physical Education Professor and former coach Tom Rogan, and former college President John Buono - will be inducted. Summer, Fall Course Schedules Now Online
Registration begins Monday, March 26

Course schedules for Summer Sessions and the Fall 2007 semester are available online, and registration begins Monday, March 26.

Three-, six- and 12-week summer sessions begin either Monday, May 21 or Monday, July 2. Summer registration calendar.

Fall 2007 semester begins Monday, Aug. 27. Fall registration calendar.

Gallery Management, Criminal Investigation among new programs

This fall, Hudson Valley will expand its already broad range of associate's degree and certificate programs with the addition of four new areas of study: Gallery Management, Photovoltaic Installation, Criminal Investigation and a Retailing option in Marketing.

"Hudson Valley has a strong reputation for responding to the needs of the community, and the diversity of these programs attests to our continued commitment in this area," Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carolyn Curtis said. More ...

The college also is seeking nominations for its 2007 Distinguished Service Awards, which are given annually to alumni, individuals and corporate partners who exemplify commitment to the college and the Capital Region.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, April 30. Download a nomination form or call Nancy Goody, director of annual giving, at (518) 629-7736 for more information. The awards will be presented at a luncheon in November sponsored by the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation and the college's Alumni Association.

Hudson Valley Women, Men Score at NJCAA Bowling Championship

2006-07 Men's and Women's Bowling Teams

The Hudson Valley Community College women's and men's bowling teams each brought home top three finishes at the NJCAA Bowling Championships in Buffalo. The women finished second out of eight teams with 11,938 pins. Hudson Valley's men finished third out of 16 teams with 12,778 pins.

Sophomore Kristina Jenkins (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) received the Kerm Helmer Award as the women's individual all-around champion. She finished with 2,216 pins (184.7 average). More ...
