Women's Soccer Season Preview

This fall looks like it could be a promising year for the Vikings with six returning players from last year's squad. Anchoring last year's defense, and again this year, is Shana Barry (Ichabod Crane/Valatie) who earned second team All Mountain Valley Conference Honors and was last season's team MVP. The other returners have either started most of the games or came off the bench, giving them the necessary experience to contribute this year. The team will heavily rely on the leadership of the six returning players from last season.

The incoming freshmen are a strong group of student-athletes, ranging from a solid goal keeper to many forwards with impressive stats. The midfield will be strengthened by a core of newcomers who bring skill and experience to the position. It is hard to single out any of the incoming freshmen, as each has a unique role that they will play on the team.

With the talent of the soccer players already on the team and the incoming freshmen, the Vikings hope to make it deep into Regional play this season.
