Hudson Valley Women's Soccer Falls to Herkimer

The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team had its season come to a close earlier today with a 1-0 loss at Herkimer County Community College in the quarterfinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Division III tournament.
Hudson Valley finishes its season with a 10-7 record while Herkimer, the nation's third-ranked team, improves to 15-2-1.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Trowbridge (Chatham/Chatham High School) made several key saves for Hudson Valley in the first half. She finished with 19 saves in the game.
Herkimer took the lead on a goal by freshman Heidi Quay (Galway) with 21:33 remaining in the contest.
Hudson Valley fought back throughout the game, including several shots by leading scorer Elizabeth O'Brien (Troy/Lansingburgh High School), but was unable to find the back of the net.
"We've had a great season," said Hudson Valley co-head coach Jamie Trudeau. "These girls have worked hard all season. It was a tough loss today, but we've accomplished a lot this season."
