Second-year players Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn H.S.) and Megan Davis (Greenwich H.S.) were named co-captains of the 2001-02 women's basketball team at Hudson Valley Community College. The duo helped Hudson Valley post a 24-3 record and earn a No. 1 national ranking among Division III junior colleges last season.

"Lindsey Bradt and Megan Davis both lead by example, and they'll provide a very intense brand of leadership to our team," said Colleen Ferris, head coach of the Lady Vikings. "They expect a lot from themselves and their teammates, and they're very hungry to win this year."

Bradt, a 5-foot-8 guard/forward, averaged 18.3 points and seven rebounds per game in 2000-01, earning NJCAA Division III Region III Player of the Year status. She also established a new NJCAA Division III Region III free throw shooting mark, hitting 84.9 percent of her attempts (Joanne Ihrig of Ocean County College made 84.1 percent of her attempts in 1997-98). Bradt, who recorded 75 steals in 27 games, was presented with Hudson Valley's Lester Higbee Memorial Award, which is given each year to the college's outstanding female athlete.

Davis, a 5-foot-4 point guard, routinely guarded the opposing team's best offensive player in 2000-01. She also averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last season, and she recorded 50 steals and made 67 percent of her free throw attempts. Davis was presented with Hudson Valley's President's Award for Hustle, which is given each year to the student-athlete whose hard work, determination, hustle and attitude have enabled them to make valuable contributions to their team.

The Lady Vikings begin their 2001-02 campaign at Finger Lakes Community College on November 2. The team's Media Day is scheduled to take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, in the gym at Hudson Valley's McDonough Sports Complex.
