Cobleskill Downs Hudson Valley in Women’s Basketball

SUNY Cobleskill (8-1) raced out to a 22-2 lead over the first nine minutes and held on for a 74-56 win over Hudson Valley Community College (3-6) in women’s basketball action this evening in Troy.

After trailing 39-18 at halftime, Hudson Valley attempted to claw its way back into the game in the second half and got as close as 14 points, 60-46, with six minutes remaining, but the Tigers pulled away for the victory down the stretch.

Shelley Pierson (Watervliet/Watervliet High School) paced Cobleskill with 15 points. Sharee Daniels (Poughkeepsie/F.D. Roosevelt High School) added 14 points.

Hudson Valley received a game-high 19 points from sophomore guard Jenna Smith (Cohoes/Cohoes High School). Sophomore Erika Russo (Salem/Salem High School) added 13 points and six rebounds.
