Hudson Valley Women’s Basketball Wins in Overtime

The Hudson Valley Community College (6-3/5-2 Region III) women’s basketball team rallied from an eight point deficit late in the second half to defeat Fulton-Montgomery Community College (5-5/5-3 Region III), 70-67 in overtime tonight in Troy.

Hudson Valley trailed 57-49 with 3:04 remaining in the game. Freshman Jenna Hughes (Poestenkill/Averill Park High School) then hit a three-point bucket and came away with a steal and a lay-up to cut the deficit to three points and bring the Lady Vikings back into the game. Hughes finished the game with 21 points and six steals.

Freshman Ryan Graham (Menands/Shaker High School) scored the first seven points of the overtime to put Hudson Valley ahead for good. She finished the contest with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Molly McGuire (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) added 15 points for the Lady Vikings.

Freshman Gina Parillo (Amsterdam/Amsterdam High School) had 16 points to pace Fulton-Montgomery. She hit four three-point baskets. Freshman Mallory Nelson (Amsterdam/Amsterdam High School) added 13 points.

The two teams combined to shoot 73 free throws in the game. Hudson Valley was 22-for-36 from the line and Fulton-Montgomery hit 19-of-37 from the charity stripe.
