Hudson Valley Moves To 11-0 By Downing
Fulton-Montgomery Community College

Troy, December 5 – In a Mountain Valley Conference matchup pitting two unbeaten women's basketball squads against each other, Hudson Valley Community College used a solid team effort and a late second half run to put away Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 67-58. The Lady Vikings, ranked third among National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region III teams, are now 11-0. The loss drops Fulton-Montgomery, ranked fourth, to 8-1.

Hudson Valley trailed for only two-and-a-half minutes in the game (midway through the first half), but Fulton-Montgomery pulled to within two points, 44-42, with 11:09 remaining in the contest. The Lady Vikings, however, finished the game on a 23-16 run thanks to 11 second-half points by Kara Sheehan (Catholic Central) and 10 by Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn).

Sheehan twice hit jumpers with the shot clock winding down during the game-clinching run. The second-year forward, today named NJCAA Region III Female Athlete of the Week, finished with a game-high 20 points. Bradt added 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Nicole Cotugno (Rensselaer) had 10 points, including five in the game's final 10 minutes, and four rebounds. Meghan Squires (Hoosic Valley) had nine points and eight rebounds.
