Lady Vikings Fall to Undefeated Mohawk Valley

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team was held scoreless during an 11-minute stretch in the first half and was unable to recover, falling to Mohawk Valley Community College, 52-44, in Troy.
Hudson Valley drops its record to 9-8 on the season and 8-6 in Region III play.
The score was tied at 12-12 with 11:52 remaining in the opening half when Mohawk Valley, which is ranked second in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, went on a 20-0 run. The Hawks took a 32-14 lead into the break and the Lady Vikings were unable to get within eight points the rest of the way.
Freshman guard Jocelyn Moy (Greenwich/Greenwich High School) finished with 19 points and four steals to lead Hudson Valley. Sophomore forward Megan Baldwin (Glenmont/Bethlehem High School) contributed seven points and seven boards.
Mohawk Valley (18-0/16-0 Region III) was paced by sophomore forward Eniola Bakare (Staten Island/Susan B. Wagner High School), who finished with 18 points.
Neither team shot well from the floor during the contest. Hudson Valley hit only 25.9 percent (14-for-54) of its shots. The Hawks were 35.8 percent (19-for-53) from the floor.
Hudson Valley will host SUNY Cobleskill at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27.
