Lady Vikings Return To Action With 71-38 Victory

Bradt Tallies 24 Points, 10 Rebounds and Five Assists;
Every Active Player Scores For Hudson Valley
Troy, N.Y., January 11, 2002 – Hudson Valley
Community College's women's basketball, which had been on a Christmas break
since Dec. 8, returned to Troy's McDonough Complex tonight with a 71-38
victory against Herkimer County Community College. First Team All-American
guard/forward Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn H.S.) led Hudson Valley
with a game-high 24 points. She had a double-double; in addition to her
24 points, Bradt had 10 rebounds.
The Lady Vikings, ranked sixth in the nation among
NJCAA Division III teams, are now 10-3 overall. The loss drops Herkimer
Bradt helped her squad open up a 20-7 lead in the
game's opening seven minutes by figuring in on each of Hudson Valley's
first five baskets. Bradt, who finished with five assists, hit four field
goals in the first seven minutes and earned an assist on Tonya DeLaMater
(Tamarac H.S.)'s 3-point basket. In all, Bradt scored 10 of Hudson
Valley's first 20 points.
While Bradt provided the spark early, the second
half belonged to 5-foot-3 Jill Valachovic (Schalmont H.S), a first-year
guard for Hudson Valley. Valachovic scored all of her 13 points in the
game's final 20 minutes, and she also contributed a pair of assists.
Every active player on Hudson Valley's roster scored
at least two points, and seven players scored six points or more. Meghan
Squires (Hoosic Valley H.S.) had eight points, 10 rebounds and three
blocks. Amy Trowbridge (Chatham H.S.) had six points and nine boards.
DeLaMater had eight assists to go with her six points. Meg Davis (Greenwich
H.S.) had five assists.
