Hudson Valley Community College Men's and Women's Basketball Falls to Onondaga

The Hudson Valley Community College men's (3-4) and women's (3-3) basketball teams played Onondaga Community College on Monday, Nov. 29. The men were handed an 80-72 loss and the women were defeated with a score of 93-53.
The Vikings kept the game close throughout, going back and forth with the lead. Despite being down a few key players, the Vikings held strong but fell in the end with free throws. Kalik Parker (Ragsdale/Jamestown, NC) had an impressive game for the Vikings, scoring 22 points as the high for the game. Parker also was named Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 22. Herb Tedford (Colonie/Albany) had 11 points, Anthony Robustiano (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) had 16 points and Kyle Mafrici (Colonie/Schenectady) put in 12 points to help the Vikings stay in the running.
The women started out strong and took the lead early on, but Onondaga came back in the last few minutes of the first half to steal the lead. The Lady Vikings kept on attacking the Onondaga defense only to be shut down numerous times. Onondaga would hold on to the lead for the rest of the game while gaining a bigger gap in the score from which the Hudson Valley Vikings could not recover. The high scorers were Erica Houle (Shaker/Latham), Arianna Youngs (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) and Stephanie Frederick (Greenville/Greenville).
The men and women travel to face SUNY Delhi on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
