The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (4-0) defeated North Country Community College (0-2) on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings shutout North Country in five innings in both games, 12-0 and 9-0.

Maggie Miller (Maple Hill/Schodack) continued her dominance on the mound with a no-hitter, striking out six in game one. Miller also had a two-run homerun to cap off her impressive performance. Jacqueline Rossi (Shaker/Latham) had a big day at the plate going 3-3 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Rebekah Johnson (Amsterdam/Amsterdam) and Emily Johnson (Tamarac/Wynantskill) each recorded three RBIs in the win.

Game two was much of the same as Miller dominated once again. She only allowed two hits on three strikeouts to improve to 4-0 on the season with no earned runs. Chelsie Matala (Tamarac/Melrose) and Abby Coyne (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) each recorded two hits in the win, and Emily Johnson added a solo homerun, her second on the year.

The softball team hosts #2 Herkimer on Thursday at 3 p.m.
