Ashley Steele And Lauren Monteith Named To Mountain Valley All-Conference Softball Team

TROY, NY – Hudson Valley Community College freshman outfielder Ashley Steele (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) and freshman second baseman Lauren Monteith (Greenwood Lake, NY/Tuxedo) were named to the Mountain Valley All-Conference softball team, the league office announced today.
Steele appeared in 35 games for the Lady Vikings in 2008, batting .409, with five doubles, 15 RBI and 20 stolen bases. She led the team in batting average, runs scored (38), hits (50) and stolen bases (20).
In 34 games, Monteith batted .314, with five doubles, five triples and 29 runs batted in. She led the team in triples and RBI and was third on the team in hits (34).
The Lady Vikings finished the 2008 season with a 20-17 record, including an 11-1 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play, earning a share of the conference championship with Mohawk Valley. Hudson Valley, earned a berth in the Region III Softball Tournament for the 22nd consecutive year, the longest-active streak in Region III.
