Freshman Erin Clemente (Troy/Troy High School) hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to propel the Hudson Valley Community College softball team to an 11-10 win over Monroe Community College in the NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament in Corning. However, Hudson Valley's (25-10-1) season came to a close with an 8-0 loss to Corning Community College in the championship game.

Hudson Valley took an early 7-0 lead in the opening game, sparked by a grand slam home run in the second inning by freshman Annemarie Nelson (East Greenbush/Columbia High School).

Monroe chipped away at the Hudson Valley lead and used a six-run sixth inning to go up, 10-7. In the seventh, the Lady Vikings then got a two-out RBI single by freshman Keri Walsh (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School), and then took the lead on Clemente's home run.

Walsh finished the game with two hits and four RBI. Sophomore Lauren Krogh (Troy/Troy High School) added three hits.

Sophomore Heidi Brooks (Wayland/Wayland-Cohocton High School) pitched her third consecutive shutout to pace Corning past Hudson Valley in the championship game. The Lady Vikings would have needed to defeat Corning twice to advance to the NJCAA Division III World Series.
