Hudson Valley Softball Sweeps Delhi

Freshman Annemarie Nelson (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) hit a two-run home run over the left field fence to lead the Hudson Valley Community College softball team to a 9-1 win over SUNY Delhi in the opening game of a doubleheader played earlier today in Troy. The Lady Vikings rallied from a three-run deficit to take the second game, 7-3.

Hudson Valley, ranked fourth in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, has won 13 of its last 14 games and improves its record to 16-6-1.

Sophomore pitcher Stephanie Goodspeed (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School) allowed only one run on two hits to pick up the win in the opening game. She walked one and struck out six.

Hudson Valley freshman Nicole Litz (Rotterdam/Mohonasen High School) was two-for-two with two runs scored in the opener.

Nelson and Goodspeed each had two hits for the Lady Vikings in the nightcap.

Sophomore pitcher Samantha Zotto (Troy/Troy High School) threw the final two innings to pick up the win for Hudson Valley. She only allowed one hit and struck out three. Zotto improved her record to 8-0 on the season, and has won 17 consecutive decisions dating back to last season.
