Hudson Valley Softball Scores 20 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of No. 7 Fulton-Montgomery

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team exploded for 20 runs in a doubleheader sweep over Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Hudson Valley won the opening game, 11-0, and the nightcap, 9-1.

Hudson Valley improves its record to 9-5-1 and 4-0 in the Mountain Valley Conference. Fulton-Montgomery, ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, dropped to 3-3 and 0-2 in the conference.

The Lady Vikings had 12 hits in the opener. Sophomore Stephanie Goodspeed (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School) and freshman Mindy McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School) each had two hits and two RBI. Sophomore Samantha Zotto (Troy/Troy High School) and Meg McLoughlin (Troy/Troy High School) also had two hits apiece.

Zotto improved her record on the mound to 5-0 this season. She worked three innings, allowing two hits and striking out two.

Goodspeed was four-for-four with two doubles, a triple and three RBI in the nightcap. She also got the win on the mound, allowing only two hits and one run in six innings of work. She fanned eight.

Freshman Reality Price (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) added three hits for the Lady Vikings in the second game. McDonough, freshmen Annemarie Nelson (East Greenbush/Columbia High School), Erin Clemente (Troy/Troy High School) and Dana Herchenroder (Voorheesville/Voorheesville High School) added two hits apiece.
