Hudson Valley Softball Ranked Third in the Latest NJCAA Poll

Sophomore Kim Prior (Coeymans/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School), a pitcher on the Hudson Valley Community College softball team, was named Region III Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 8.
Prior tossed a pair of shutouts in a doubleheader sweep over Erie Community College on March 26. She struck out four and allowed only one hit to lead the Lady Vikings to a 16-0 win in the opener. Prior tossed a no-hitter in the nightcap, striking out two, in a 15-0 Hudson Valley win.
Prior is currently 4-1 with a 1.40 earned run average this season. She has struck out 17 batters in 20 innings pitched.
Hudson Valley (6-3) is riding a five game winning streak and is ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.
In the 2001-02 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 65 percent of their contests. The college's softball team traveled to Illinois for the national championship tournament and finished second in the country, and the women's basketball team placed seventh in the nation. Hudson Valley's football team won the Northeast Football Conference, and the baseball and bowling squads each added a Mountain Valley Conference title. Additionally, three Vikings earned Region III Player-of-the-Year status and eight were honored with All-American status.
