Guilderland Native Wins Hudson Valley Award For Hustle

Sharee Deichman of Guilderland was recently
presented with Hudson Valley Community College's President's Award for
Hustle. The award is presented each year to the student-athlete whose hard
work, determination, hustle and attitude have enabled them to make valuable
contributions to their team. Deichman, a softball player, also earned Second
Team All-Mountain Valley Conference and Second Team All-NJCAA Division
III Region III status.
A third baseman who graduated with the class
of 2001, Deichman is known by teammates and fans as a fierce competitor.
After batting .364 as a freshman, she hit an impressive .402 in 2001, helping
the Lady Vikings post a 22-9 record. Deichman also contributed six doubles,
seven triples and three home runs this past season.
Deichman, who came to Hudson Valley from Guilderland
High School, will attend Cortland State next.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy,
offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions;
Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and
Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University
of New York system, Hudson Valley has an enrollment of more than 9,000
students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives
and worker retraining.
