Men's Soccer Wins Opener

Freshman James Frederick (Hillsdale/Taconic Hills High School) scored the game-winner, two minutes into overtime, off a pass from freshman Sam Mallabar (Guilderland/Guilderland High School) to lift the Hudson Valley Community College (1-0) men's soccer team to 2-1 win over Tompkins Cortland Community College (1-2).
Hudson Valley took a 1-0 lead early in the contest when freshman Corey Terpening (Waterford/Waterford-Halfmoon High School) headed in a cross from Sophomore Tony Eaton (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School).
The Panthers tied the contest late in the first half on a goal from Jonathan Kenchen.
Freshman goalie Nick Marciano (Colonie/Colonie High School) stopped six shots to pick up the win in his first collegiate game for Hudson Valley.
The Vikings will travel to Morrisville State College on Wednesday, September 7 for a 4 p.m. contest. Morrisville is ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.
