Travis CookeName: Travis Cooke
# of Years: 7 years
Position: Head Men's Soccer Coach

Duties: Organize and Operate the Men's Soccer Program according to NJCAA Rules; including recruitment of potential student athletes, training/game preparation, operating within budget guidelines set by the college. Also, Director of Hudson Valley Community College Youth Soccer Camps (ages 5-16).

What has attracted you to being an employee at Hudson Valley Community College?
Hudson Valley soccer has always had a great tradition with past coaches like Tom Rogan and John Meehan. I hoped to follow these great coaches and continue to have Hudson Valley be considered one of the top soccer programs in the region. There is a lot of soccer talent in the Capital Region and being the area's junior college, our team should reflect this talent. Being a product of American soccer myself, I hope to advance the soccer skill level of this country, and college soccer is a big part of this. I want to give my knowledge and passion for the game to the younger generations of players.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of the job is when our team scores a goal. There is an unbelievable rush of adrenaline and accomplishment during this moment. Even though some critics of soccer do not like that there are not many goals, when they do happen, it is very exciting. It is great to see players be rewarded for all of their hard work and dedication to the game.

What sports have you played in your career? What level/ accolades/ etc.?
I played soccer and basketball throughout my life. I played basketball at all levels, from 6th grade up to Varsity and AAU in high school; however, soccer is my main sport. My biggest accomplishments include being a member of the Youth National Team in high school and winning a Club National Championship (u-17 West Babylon Panthers, Long Island). I played in the NCAA Tournament with UMass and traveled all over the country and to Argentina and France with the Olympic Development Program. Teams I have played on include national, regional, and state ODP Teams, UMass, Maple Hill, West Babylon Club Team, Empire State Team and Greenbush Club Team. I have won an Atlantic 10 Championship, two high school state championships, a club national championship, State Club Championship, Empire Games Gold Medal.
