Freshman Also Named First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference

Anthony Moro of Syracuse was recently honored as the Most Valuable Player of Hudson Valley Community College's 2001 men's lacrosse team. Moro, a freshman attacker, also was named a First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference performer.

Moro, who scored 36 goals in just eight games, led Hudson Valley to the Mountain Valley Conference title this past season. The Vikings, 4-4 overall, were undefeated in league play, winning all four Mountain Valley Conference matchups. The season was cut short due to inclimate weather.

Moro, who checks in at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, also contributed nine assists. Although he'll return to Hudson Valley for the 2002 campaign, four-year schools such as Roanoke College, Nazareth College of Rochester, Cortland State and Mercyhurst College are currently scouting him. Moro came to Hudson Valley from Cortland High School in Syracuse.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley Community College has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
