Hudson Valley Holds Off Cobleskill, 11-8, In Men's Lacrosse

Troy , NY - Freshman attacker Marc DeJordy (Columbia/East Greenbush, NY) recorded four points (3 goals, 1 assist) as Hudson Valley Community College edged SUNY Cobleskill, 11-8, in men's lacrosse action Tuesday at HVCC Field.

The Vikings never trailed in the game, leading 4-1 after one quarter and 8-1 at the half. DeJordy scored two goals in the first quarter and freshman midfielder Sean O'Connell (LaSalle Institute/Troy, NY) added two goals in the second quarter.

In the second half, the Fighting Tigers scored four straight goals, all by freshman midfielder Alex Harwylkie, closing the margin to 8-5. But late in the third quarter, Hudson Valley increased its lead to 10-5 on goals by sophomore midfielder John Washburn (CBA/Loudonville, NY) and sophomore attacker Will Wilson-Jackson (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park, NY).

Sophomore midfielder Ryan DeSalvatore (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park, NY) and Jackson each recorded two goals and one assist, while freshman midfielder Bryan O'Connell (LaSalle Institute/Troy, NY) added three assists in the win for the Vikings.

Freshman goaltender Kevin DeCelle (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa, NY) made 11 saves for Hudson Valley, while freshman netminder Bob McDonald made eight saves in the loss for the Fighting Tigers.

With the win, the Vikings snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 6-3, while Cobleskill dropped to 2-5 on the season. Hudson Valley will be back in action on Friday, when they visit Delhi (4 p.m. start).
