National Championship Hockey Team To Present Rings And Unfurl Banner

TROY, NY – Prior to a game against North Country
Community College, Hudson Valley Community College will present championship
rings and unfurl a banner honoring the school's 2000-01 hockey team, which
won the junior college national championship.
WHEN: 6 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2001.
WHERE: In the Conway Ice Arena at Hudson Valley, 80 Vandenburgh
Avenue, Troy NY.
WHAT: Hudson Valley will conduct an on-ice presentation honoring
the college's 2000-01 hockey team. Each player from last year's team will
be given a championship ring, and a championship banner will be unfurled.
WHY: Hudson Valley's 2000-01 hockey team traveled to Bottineau,
N.D., and captured the school's first national hockey championship, defeating
Minot State University-Bottineau. Only three collegiate titles were won
in 2000-01: the NCAA Division I crown (Boston University); the NCAA Division
III crown (Plattsburgh State); and the junior college crown. En route to
the championship, the Vikings, made up mostly of Capital Region players,
posted a 24-4 record.
