Head hockey coach Matt Alvey was announced as the Region III Coach of the Year this past weekend at the NJCAA National Ice Hockey Tournament held at Hudson Valley Community College. Alvey helped lead the Vikings to a 10-5-1 overall regular season record and now has 122 career wins for the Vikings.

Sophomore goalie Mike Fay (Sachem East/Farmingville) was the lone Viking to earn First-Team All-Region this year. Fay stopped 202 saves on the year and only allowed 27 goals. Forward Matt Wagner (LaSalle Institute/Clifton Park) and defenseman Jordan Simpson (Oxford Academy/Anaheim, CA) each earned Second-Team All-Region honors, while defenseman Ethan Bleau (Columbia/North Greenbush) claimed a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

The Vikings earned the #4 seed in the National Tournament this year, falling to #1 Monroe Community College in the semifinals.
