Hudson Valley Hockey Defeats Morris

The Hudson Valley Community College (3-4-1) ice hockey team received goals from six different players in a 6-1 win over County College of Morris (6-7) this evening in Troy.
The Vikings took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission on goals by Ryan Honeycutt (South Attleboro, MA/Attleboro High School) and Maverick Erikson (Clarkston, MI/Clarkston High School).
Hudson Valley made it 3-0 on a goal by Tom Phibbs (Troy/LaSalle Institute) before Morris capitalized off a power play and cut its deficit to 3-1 on a goal by Tom Benton.
However, the Vikings put the game away on a breakaway goal by Eric Nichols (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills High School) with 2:24 remaining in the second period.
The Vikings received third period insurance goals from Eric Olds (Scotia/CBA) and Paul Chamberlain (Niskayuna/Niskayuna High School).
Goaltender Jonathan Morales (San Diego, CA/Grossmont High School) stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced to earn the win.
